Summary

As you gain more and more experience with sales, you'll come to realize there is a lot of nuance sales veterans understand that amateurs simply do not yet. One of those nuances is sales tonality and I had to learn this the hard way when taking sales calls for T4E back in the day. I would have a mostly authoritarian style tone that moms did not appreciate and my close rates sucked. Then I learned what I'm about to teach you today and our close rate skyrocketed. I'll explain the 3 types of tonality to use in sales calls and give you an example using all 3 in a mock script.

I hear that you want to think about it. Okay, I get it. But let me ask you something. You mentioned

0:03.9

earlier that you've been trying to make this work for two years now. And what's really going to

0:07.7

change if you take another week to think about it? Most people when they need to think about it,

0:11.8

they really just need information. So while we're on this call together, let me give you whatever

0:15.4

information is you need to make a decision. And if you say no, that's fine, but I cannot let you go without making a

0:22.3

decision here because I truly believe this is what's going to help you.

0:26.7

What up, everyone? Welcome back to the fitness business podcast. Your co-host, Jordan here.

Excited to chat with you all about sales. And first, I just want to say, happy new year.

We are into 2025 and it's going to be a fun year. There's no better time to be in America, to be an online health and online fitness coach. We're moving into the Maha movement, no matter how you feel about that. We cannot argue with the fact that it's beneficial to raise more awareness around people's health, right? But that's not what I'm going to talk about today. Today I'm going to talk all about sales, right? Getting people to commit to their desires

0:57.4

and their ambitions to transform their lives. Sales is such a powerful tool if you learn how to

1:02.7

use it correctly. And so what I'm going to talk about is a simple tonality triangle system,

1:06.8

which is learning how to use your voice more effectively, that's going to massively increase your close rates. And I know this from personal experience. And the best part is what I'm going to

1:14.5

share with you today is not about like memorizing some scripts, right? It's not about relying on

1:20.9

some pushy tactic. It's really just about learning how to use inflection and tonality where it becomes

1:26.3

so much less about what you say and more about

1:28.3

how you say it. So quick backstory, when I was taking sales calls for T4E a few years ago in our

1:33.1

health coaching company, I was sort of like kind of a push. I didn't really know what I was doing,

1:37.6

kind of pushy, kind of assertive. And we sold mostly to women, a lot of moms, frankly. And it didn't work so well. And so I remember taking

1:45.8

this one call with a girl name, well, we'll call her Sarah. I don't want to use her real name.

1:49.4

And I had a classic, or she was just kind of your classic busy mom, had tried so many programs,

1:54.5

fad diets, things that just hadn't worked for. And this is an example of me completely botching

1:58.5

this call because I didn't understand really how to use my voice.
