Leading today's presentation is Dr. Doug Menon. Dr. Menon is a professor of clinical psychology and director of clinical training

PhD from Temple University in 2001 and has previously held positions in the Department of Psychology

at New York University, Yale University, and Assumee Hunter College, where he was co-director of the Health Psychology and Clinical Science PhD Training Program.

In his academic role, Professor Menon has trained numerous graduate students and post-bacceliorate research assistants on diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of anxiety and mood disorders.

He has published more than 150 articles, chapters, and books, and is the developer of emotion regulation therapy.

He regularly leads workshops to help people better understand and respond to their struggles with anxiety, worry, and depression.

He currently serves on the editorial board of six journals and has been on the executive boards of the APA Division of Clinical Psychology, the Society for a Science of Clinical Psychology, and is the former chair of the Scientific Council of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America.

So we know that emotional distress includes feelings of anxiety, low mood, worry,

rumination, self-criticism, among others.

And for people with ADHD, as well as those facing chronic stress, has many

triggers emotional distress from changes in relationships and work or caregiving demands,

health problems, and even our loved ones, stress and dysregulation, can be our own stress and dysregulation.

Often heightened emotional reactions lead to overthinking and avoidance, which then limit meaningful action and personal growth.

So today we will discuss how we can understand, anticipate, and respond to emotional distress so we can

move forward with greater clarity, flexibility, and purpose. That is our goal. And finally,
