Hey, remember that old hymn, O Victory in Jesus, my Savior forever?

Love that old song. We used to sing it all the time in church. Goodness, yesterday with

the label maker and today with the hymn, I think I'm walking down memory lane this week on our

victory week. But look, there's a lot of talk in Christian circles about living free and living

the victorious life. But I'm not even sure we know what this looks like at this point. Do we really?

We want this so badly,

but we get caught up in so many things that just surviving many days feels like a win.

I want to dive into scripture quickly for a few to see what God says about what the

victory life should really look like. You with me?

So I want to dive right into what the word says about what a victorious life is, because I do know what it can't be or what it's not based on in humanity, and that is that

it can't be perfection.

Because a perfect life isn't humanly possible.

We know that.

It can't be problem-free, because we know based on John 1633 that in this world there will be trouble, right?

So that one is out the window.

Okay, but then what does victorious living actually look like if it's not those things, not perfection and not problem-free?

Well, it's not this picture we may at first

think of us skipping through a meadow in a moment of bliss. No, picture it more like a warrior who has

been fighting and fighting and is still fighting, but is also gaining victory in the perseverance,

because that, friends, is the victorious Christian life. Until we go to heaven, we'll be in a flesh fight. But we
