I'm Lisa Whittle, and I welcome you to just five minutes with me, which I trust and pray will be five minutes well spent.

There's a group of people I love on this planet, maybe more than anyone else.

And if you're one of those people, I need you in my life. In fact, I always have at least one of these people as a close friend at all times, and I dare say you do too.

They bring such joy to the lives of others, and I suspect it's because they experience joy in what they do, so it just kind of spills over.

My daughter just made the varsity cheer team, and I can tell you, we all sort of went nuts in this house when she did.

I mean, it was quite a buildup.

She really wanted to make the team.

There was a lot of competition.

She'd worked really hard.

And so as a result, when she made it, we just kind of went nuts. In fact, we was a lot of competition. She'd worked really hard. And so as a result,

well, sort of a cheer jump, attempting one at least, because I was so crazy, excited that she made it.

Cheerleading is a big deal in our house right now because we have a cheerleader. I'm biased, but she is really good, by the way.

But we love cheerleaders around here, and actually not just because of my girl and being on the cheer team.

Chearing for other people is a precious gift that we give to the world, really.

And that's what we're talking about today on the show as a way not to bring joy,

though it certainly does do that, but to get more joy in our life in cheering for others.

It's what Paul talks about in the last part of Philippians too, when he says, and this is Lisa's

paraphrase, by the way, hey, I'm here in prison, and I don't know how things are going to turn out,
