Hi, and welcome to the Five Word Prayers Daily, a five-day-a-week daily devotional where we share the word, prayers, in our heart.

I'm Lisa Whittle, and I welcome you to just five minutes with me, which I trust and pray will be five minutes well spent.

Well, we're looking at joy this month, and this week it's all about the joy that comes from serving others.

I have to tell you, it's stretching me. And if yesterday's

show didn't already do that, today's show is going for it hardcore, because we're going to look

at what I believe are some of the most powerful verses in all the Bible, and that's saying a lot,

and also some of the most difficult to personally live. That's also saying a lot, because the Bible's

challenging, right? Cover to cover.

And yet in their example, these verses we're going to look at today, we find the truest and fullest

of all joy. You ready to uncover it? Let's do it.

I'm always moved by the example of Jesus, as I'm sure you are too, and yet I'm always challenged by

it as well because he's so far above me and his ways are truly so much higher than mine.

But doing things God's way, following his example, is the road to joy. I do believe that.

I really do. You know, if you've read my book, I want God,

ask in life is, what do you want? Because it is the determiner of absolutely everything else.

So if I ask myself, do I want more joy, which, by the way, is the reason I'm doing this

And then I have to also be willing to do whatever it takes to get it.

Or the truth is, I don't really want it.

I say I want it, but I only want the idea of it, which I think is something that a lot

of us as believers get into.
