I'm Lisa Whittle and I welcome you to just five minutes with me, which I trust and

pray will be five minutes well spent.

This month is already a blessing to me.

I knew I needed to focus on joy, but also it's kind of stepping on my toes.

Today is one of those stepping on my toes

days. Even as I was prepping for the show, I knew it was a good lesson for me to soak in and take

to heart because sometimes I get so focused on my own projects and own to-dos that I'm not as

sensitive to others as I should be. It's tough to admit, especially when it's true of even people

in my own family. I'm busy and I don't see their needs right around me. Sometimes I think my

joy is in checking off my to-do list. And trust me, I do like to do that. But what about when

I'm not all about me, but I've taken the time to be about someone else. Now, that brings the true God joy.

Look, no one is drawn to a person who thinks about themselves or talks about themselves all

the time, and yet we have to ask ourselves, where do I fall on that scale? Let's get more joy

by seeing where we are with this today.

Okay, so we've all been around someone who love to talk about themselves or seem to really have a focus on themselves. And quite honestly, we all love to hear ourselves talk and tell our

stories and love to have people listen to us. There's nothing wrong with wanting for people

to hear us, but our lives have to be

about more than that. We were put on earth to invest in other people. And Paul's talking about how

this people investment brings us joy in a very unique way when he says in Philippians 2-4,

don't think only about your own affairs, but be interested in others too and what they're doing.
