I'm Lisa Whittle, and I welcome you to just five minutes with me, which I trust and pray will be five minutes well spent.

What comes to your mind when you think of church? It probably depends on how you're raised, and if we're honest, if we have any baggage or issues from our time spent in the

church. For some of us, church is a haven. It's been a sweet, safe place. For others, it's a place

of pain. But we know that church is not about a building, according to the word. It's about people.

We are the church, which gets a little confusing, I know, because we call the literal place we

meet for a church, usually on Sunday, a church, and yet we are the church. Yeah, there's a lot to think

about there. But here's what I want you to think about today as we look at Philippians 2 and continue

in our month's study of joy that selfishness can ruin a church, but genuine humility

can build it. And having one heart, goal and purpose brings the joy a lot of us have been looking

for. Could it be we could find joy in the church? I think. No, I know. The answer is yes.

So this week is from Philippians 2, and it's all about the joy in serving, specifically in serving and relating to others. So here's what Philippians 2, 1, and 2 says. Is there any

encouragement from belonging to Christ, any comfort from his love,

any fellowship together in the spirit, are your hearts tender and compassionate, then make me

truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working

together with one mind and purpose. Now, we know and can admit that we're not always

easy to get along with all of us at times. This doesn't come as a shock, right? And this is something

God is talking to me a lot about right now myself, that joy is not in waiting on the other person

to get it right. It's not about them doing what they are supposed to do, although I know that's how we feel

and that's what we truly believe will make us better and have greater joy. But it's about us

finding joy despite when anyone else does. Yes, even despite the opposition of another person.

It's not easy, but with Jesus, it's possible. And that's where I am right now in some
