Well, happy Monday, friends. I hope you had a good weekend. Hey, do you feel blessed? What does it mean to be blessed by God?

Have you ever heard anyone say this when something good happens?

Now, that is the favor of God on you.

I want to talk about this today because I've always had a bit of an issue with this whole blessing and favor conversation.

And I'll tell you what I mean in just a minute.

Thank you. and I'll tell you what I mean in just a minute. So last week we were in a series of my book, I Want God, and I hadn't originally intended to extend it into this week,

but I got to thinking about a couple of other things I want to talk about in the book that I really want to dive into because I think they're equally important and also things that are worth discussing for a few minutes.

In the book, I talk about how we have to want God more than blessing and how, in fact,

wanting God to bless us so much can actually get in the way of just wanting God.

Here's what I mean.

I believe we can get so caught up in treating God

kind of like a vending machine or a Santa that we sit in his lap and ask things of him that this is

the role we have with him and it's the only role we really know. We love him because of what he can

do for us, not just because of who he is or what he's already

done for us.

And I think it shows up with us in a couple of ways.

First, how we pray, and two, how we respond when we don't get our way.

If we're constantly asking for things and they aren't necessarily character things, but more, God, please

give me this job promotion, or please help me have this house I really want, or help me my book

sell a lot of copies. Listen, I believe we can ask God for anything, but is this the only or
