Hi, and welcome to the Five Word Prayers Daily, a five day a week daily devotional where we share the

word prayers in our heart. I'm Lisa Whittle, and I welcome you to just five minutes with me,

which I trust and pray will be five minutes well spent. What acts like your best friend, but behind

the scenes and usually somewhat slowly ruins your life? Okay, let me put it this way. Have you ever

had a bossy friend and for whatever reason you just keep them in your life and keep letting them

boss you around even though you know they aren't a good friend to you? That's what we're going to

talk about today in the first thing and really one of the main things that get in our way of wanting God the most.

A little G. God called comfort.

I tell a story in my book, I Want God, about a time our family went snow tubing in West Virginia

and how my first goal was to have fun with

my family but my secondary goal was not to be cold. I don't like to be cold. I don't like to be hot

for that matter either by the way so I've obviously got a temperature problem. But I digress.

We went snow tubing and I packed us all these snow clothes so we could layer up and not be cold in this

crazy cold weather. The weather was supposed to be cold that day and the wind was going to be

blowing so I even went and got some black ski masks to cover our face because somehow I thought

that was a good idea and no one tried to talk me out of it. Can you just imagine

what we looked like? Yeah. The morning came for us to go outside and do our snow tubing and

we had all layered up. I mean, we were so crazy layered up that we were literally insane

looking. We could all barely walk. My kids were all complaining, and I just kept saying

things like, you will all thank me when you aren't cold. It's so funny how we as moms project,

I think, all of our things onto our kids, right? They probably wouldn't even have noticed the cold,

but I was wanting to not be cold, so I didn't want them to be cold. But I was feeling so great as I stepped outside into this swirling wind and snow, and I
