Hi, and welcome to the Five Word Prayers Daily, a five-day-a-week daily devotional where we share the word,

prayers, and our heart. I'm Lisa Whittle, and I welcome you to just five minutes with me, which I

trust and pray will be five minutes well spent. This is the moment I'd like to say, okay, show of hands

how many of you have been told no before and I guarantee everyone would raise their

hand if you haven't I'll go ahead and tell you I can't relate to you because I've been told no plenty

of times before and it never gets easier when it's something you really want to hear a yes about

but we do have some choices when we hear a no and I want to tell you what those are in case you forgot that you do have options.

I like options, don't you?

Ooh, ooh, ooh,

I was just watching a video about Nick Foles, the current Super Bold Champion Eagles quarterback and MVP,

where he was on the phone with his coach from another team back just a couple years ago,

and the coach was cutting him and saying these words,

I hope you land on your feet.

And it was just crazy to watch knowing what just happened such a short

time after and how that no in his life was now the biggest yes he could have ever imagined

winning the Super Bowl and becoming the MVP and how inspiring that is to all of us who have had a

know in our life when we've thought probably in that moment,

like I'm sure Nick did, that our career or whatever the no was in that moment, that meant

things for us were over. See, when we hear a no, we have some options. Some of these are

familiar to us because we've tried them. We can, one, run away, right? Run from the situation by maybe running to something else, maybe getting out of that career or getting out of that relationship because it's come to an impasse that we can't get our way about. We can, too, become negative or bitter. We can be angry or resentful of the no and hold it against the no giver.

When we hear a no, we can three, go inward and blame ourselves.

We can say, we aren't any good or we shouldn't even try anymore.
