I'm Lisa Whittle, and I welcome you to just five minutes with me, which I trust and pray will be five minutes well spent.

I'm so excited about today's conversation. I'm praying it will be powerful in your life.

We're going to be talking about a

famous verse in the Bible, why it's so important to read what actually happened in the non-famous

verses before it, and how all of it tells us how Jesus wants us to live. Let's get right to it.

Thank you. it. I'm not a huge statistic person.

Now, please don't tell that to the Barna group, by the way, who I did a research project

with for one of my books.

I love them and they do amazing work.

But I would guess that if I were to visit

the homes of my listeners, at least 30% of you, maybe even higher, have this verse somewhere on

some wall in your home. It's a famous and beloved verse and for very good reason. Micah 6.8

says this, and this is what the Lord requires, to do what is

right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. Some form of that verse, some translation,

is on beautiful wall art in many homes, and I'll go right ahead and tell you, I have it on a piece

of wall art. I sometimes hang in mine.

I'm a fickle decorator, so I swap my decor out, but I digress. It's interesting how this verse is so popular and it's beloved and rightly so, because it clearly tells us how to live, right?

What God wants from us, according to the Old Testament prophet Micah, who is literally sort of

illustrating here a courtroom and saying, God, the judge, here's what he requires.

It's how you must obey him and live to honor authority.

But what we miss in narrowing on this verse are the verses that come before, which help us understand why verse
