Trauma. 

Most people have some amount of trauma. 

What most people don’t realize though is that you can have trauma related to and involving money. 

Yes, money. That thing we use everyday to buy our food, pay our rent, the stuff that keeps our lights on. . . Depending on your relationship with it, depending on your parents relationship with it, and even their parents’ relationship with it, money holds a lot of significance. 

Today on the podcast, I share with you some insights around money trauma that I’ve learned while coaching women business owners over the years.

In the last two years of working with clients and also taking a look back at clients I've worked with in the past,

I came to a realization that there is something more than money mindset at play with certain people.

And it's based on what they've gone through in childhood.

As I started studying clients more and also former clients that I've worked with,

first of all, I need to say, I'm so privileged that people share their stories with me

and that they feel safe to go back to their past and let me know what happened there.

It has helped me to often take a softer approach with them or see a current

struggle with an immense amount of tenderness and grace. What I'm here to say is money mindset

is not the same as money trauma. Now, as I've researched if money trauma was even a thing,

because I wasn't aware that it was, there is a term called financial trauma. I like to say money

trauma because we have money mindset on the other side of it.

And money trauma is something that is not a thing that you can just reset.

So I wrote a book several years ago called Reset Your Mindset.

And I have a framework where you work through mindset issues. and at the end of it, you decide to take

action. Well, when you have trauma and especially trauma around money, that is going to impact your

business. And I've seen it happen and I have case studies where I knew this was a thing

before I even had the words for it. And so I've done some research on financial trauma and there are

now therapists that work specifically with those who have gone through financial trauma.

What's interesting is that most marriage and

family therapists in my experience, and I've had many clients over the years who are marriage

and family therapists. So I feel like I can speak to this with some authority that even marriage

and family therapists, even though they are helping you with trauma,
