I'm Julia Cowley retired FBI agent and profiler, and I'm joined today by my colleagues.

Susan Costler, Drew and Bob Drew.

Susan and Bob are also retired FBI profilers and together we worked in the FBI's behavioral analysis unit.

So today we're going to start our analysis of the murder of six-year-old John Bonnet Ramsey,

who was found dead in her home in Boulder, Colorado on December 26, 1996.

This is one of our top case requests, and although much of the evidence has been debated,

we feel there's enough information available

to have a discussion about our observations

of this murder, and our focus will be interpreting

the behavior of the offender.

I think there are three factors that, in my opinion,

propelled this case into the national spotlight. The first being the wealth of the

Ramsey family. The second being John Bonnet's participation in beauty pageants. And the third,

the infamous two and a half page ransom note, which is likely one of the most recognized ransom notes in history,

probably the other one being the Lindbergh kidnapping. And Bob and I have previously done an

in-depth analysis of the ransom note. So you can listen to those episodes if you're interested.

I think it would really

help to go back, listen to them, because we'll of course reference the note in this discussion

to see if its author exhibits the same traits and characteristics as the person who murdered
