| 0:18.0 | which I realize is an enormous topic for theologians to write volumes about, |
| 0:24.0 | but I'm just going to address a little sliver of it in a practical way for women. |
| 0:29.0 | So, definitions first. Our sanctification is the process by which we are growing more like Christ. |
| 0:37.0 | Our justification is a one-time event. |
| 0:41.0 | We are put right with God when the death burial and resurrection of Jesus is imputed to us by God's grace, when we're born again. |
| 0:50.0 | But our sanctification is ongoing all the way until we get to heaven. |
| 0:55.0 | The more we love God and obey His commands, the more we progress in becoming more like Christ. |
| 1:03.0 | So, here's the subject then. Why, after years of following Christ, do we stumble and fall? |
| 1:11.0 | Shouldn't we be holy by now? |
| 1:13.0 | I've been a Christian since 1973, so you would think by now, I would just be way past sin, right? |
| 1:23.0 | Well, no, the answer is we're not yet in heaven. |
| 1:28.0 | And we are applying our faith to all our circumstances one day at a time. |
| 1:35.0 | And circumstances and provocations change every day. |
| 1:40.0 | Sometimes we may think we're getting this Christian life down, and then there comes a bump of some kind. |
| 1:46.0 | And there is that verse somewhere I didn't look up where it is. |
| 1:50.0 | But he who thinks he stands, take heed, lest he fall. |
| 1:54.0 | We start thinking that we are, we've got this down and be careful because you might just slip and fall. |
| 2:02.0 | But there's no standing still in the Christian life. |
| 2:05.0 | If we stop pressing on, we're going to start drifting backwards. |
