Summary

As Peter writes his second letter, he is an old man with the shadow of death hanging over him. He has spent decades serving the Lord, traveling and telling his Jesus-story. Peter has been an eyewitness to the life and ministry of Jesus, and he wants to share what he has learned about his Lord and life in His Kingdom. He begins by coaching us on the skills we will need in order to live in such a way that honors Jesus. Then he warns us about the marks of the false church and gives us a window into what will happen before Jesus returns. Finally, he cautions us to be on guard against error and encourages us to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.
