Hello and welcome to another edition of Mormon Stories podcast.

I'm your host John DeLin. This is a special edition of Mormon Stories podcast because it is November 6th, it is 4.16pm mountain time.

And we are all reeling from an announcement, a leak that happened on November 5th, 2015, wherein it was leaked that changes have been made to the LDS Church Handbook No.1 and the changes are around what the Church is calling same-gender relationships or same-gender cohabitation or same-gender marriage.

That in and of itself is the topic worth discussing but the basic upshot is basically two things.

People who are in a same-gender marriage are now according to the Handbook specifically in apostasy of the Church.

And so we are going to talk about that that now they are officially apostates according to the manual.

And the second big news which is even bigger is that children of a living parent who is in a same-gender relationship are now apparently prohibited from getting a baby blessing, baptism confirmation or even missionary service.

Until they reach the age of 18 and even if they are 18 they have to denounce or disavow the practice of same-gender cohabitation or marriage and they have to be 18 and not live with the parents.

So this is huge and it's already been written up in the Wall Street Journal.

In I've spoken to the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, CNN, Having Nimpost, like it's all over, it feels as big as the K-Helly thing and the Jondolin thing, it feels really big.

And so the internet is exploding and we need to talk about it.

So I have assembled three of my favorite humans on the planet.

I'm actually hoping to assemble five but Seth Anderson and Michael Ferguson said they'd be joining us but we haven't ever get a hold of them.

So we're going to wait and see if they join us but we have a fabulous panel without them.
