Summary
Are you playing a short-term tactic or a long-term strategy? Life, like a complex game of chess, is defined by the moves we make. But unlike a solitary game, our board is shared. In this episode, we explore the powerful metaphor of Life as a Chess Game, where every decision—big or small—sends a ripple effect across the board, impacting not just our position, but the lives of everyone around us. We discuss the lag time of karma (why results often take time to manifest), the importance of foresight, and the ultimate question: Are your moves setting up a game of connection and victory for all, or are you unwittingly sacrificing the pieces that matter most? Join us to learn how to become a Grandmaster of kindness and intent.

| 0:00.0 | Welcome to the Happiness podcast. I'm Dr. Robert Puff. I want to ask you a question. Do you think the choices that you'll make today will have any impact on your future life or anyone else's life? If we take a moment and think about it, I think many of us would say, yes, yes. |
| 0:22.6 | The choices I make today will impact my life and may even impact other people's lives. |
| 0:28.6 | But at the same time, I think the choices that we make throughout the day, today, |
| 0:34.6 | we don't really think about how they impact our lives or other people's lives. |
| 0:40.9 | We may realize there's some connection between what we do and other people do, but mostly we just |
| 0:47.3 | focus on what we want or don't want to do right now. And for our own selves, we rarely think about |
| 0:53.8 | how the choices we're making right now |
| 0:55.9 | will impact us in the long run. Life is often just a series of events that we engage with. We want to do |
| 1:04.2 | something, and if we can, we do that. Things that we don't like, we try to terminate as fast as possible. |
| 1:17.6 | But I think for many of us, we just live our lives as a mismash of choices that we make that have really no relevance to ourselves or anyone else in the long run. |
| 1:22.6 | But I think if we stop and reflect on our lives, we can think about things that we've done |
| 1:30.3 | that at the time seemed insignificant, but in the long run did impact us or someone else, |
| 1:37.3 | sometimes even majorly. |
| 1:40.3 | Don't we all know someone that got quickly and perhaps romantically involved with someone |
| 1:46.0 | for a short amount of time that wasn't really going to go anywhere? |
| 1:50.0 | But then, a child was born and the connection between the two of them lasted a lifetime. |
| 1:58.0 | Or someone else who went to university, they had studied hard in high school, |
| 2:03.1 | but they really liked the university life and perhaps party too much. Stop studying hard, didn't do |
| 2:11.5 | well on their tests, felled out, and then had to go down a very different journey in their lives. |
| 2:19.1 | But these are big stories that we all know. |
| 2:22.6 | My question today is, |
| 2:24.7 | what if we change our perspective on how we're living |
