0:00.0	Welcome to the Happiness podcast. I'm Dr. Robert Puff. I want to share a story with you that happened to me very recently. I live in Orange County, California, and I had plans to visit some friends of mine that live up in Hollywood. Well, traffic can be rather
0:22.3	heavy here on the weekends, but I've learned over the years that if I leave early, I can often
0:27.0	beat the traffic. Well, my friends only live a few miles from Hollywood Boulevard. That's where a Chinese
0:32.4	man theater is. And then you know all those famous stars with actors and directors names on them, they're there too.
0:39.5	Well, since I got there early, I decided I'm going for a long walk and looking at all the stars
0:44.7	on Hollywood Boulevard. I walked up one side of the street and then I walked back on the other
0:49.6	side of the street. If you've never done it, there are a lot of stars on Hollywood Boulevard. But this is the part
0:56.6	that stood out to me that I want to share with you. I don't know the process, but I can imagine it
1:02.6	takes a lot of work, a lot of effort, a lot of fame to get a star on Hollywood Boulevard. Now, right around
1:09.7	Chinese Man Theater, they take pretty good care of the
1:12.4	stars, but it didn't seem like more famous people were around Chinese Man Theater. The famous people
1:18.2	that you and I knew would be all over the Boulevard. But as I got further and further away from
1:23.9	Chinese Man Theater, what I saw was, the stars were not taking very good care of.
1:30.0	And at a few points, it was actually rather disconcerting because people had been peeing around
1:36.4	the stars, and it really stank quite a bit. And the other thing that stood out was,
1:41.6	though I'm not the most knowledgeable person about who these people are, there are a lot of names. I would say most of the names. I had no idea who they were. So what does having a star on Hollywood Boulevard represent? I believe the goal is to say this is a pinnacle of achievement, immortality, and being remembered forever.
2:03.9	I think that's the goal of these stars. And I'm also quite sure that most people, if not all the
2:08.9	people who get a star on Hollywood Boulevard, went through a lot of work and effort to, in quotes,
2:15.9	earn that star on Hollywood Boulevard on the Walk of Fame.
2:21.1	Now, many of us may not have any interest in having a star on Hollywood Boulevard,
2:27.0	but for our culture, and I even think for our world, this in many ways is one of the
2:32.6	pinnacles, one of the statuses that we've made it in our world,
