This is the Other People podcast. I'm Brad Listy. I'm in Los Angeles, California. It's really good to be with you. How you doing? Happy Fourth of July. Happy Independence Day in the United States of America in the year 2018. It's a weird time to be an American. There's a lot of troubling things going on. Here's what I want to say on July 4th, 2018, as we exist under the rule of Donald Trump. Get active. I want to encourage people to be active

citizens. That's really the, that's a simple message that I have today. I feel like most of us,

I would guess, listening are aware of the dangers presented by Donald Trump, by the erosion of our political institutions,

the threat to the rule of law, the fact that the election was attacked by a hostile

foreign adversary with which the Trump campaign was in communication, shall we say.

It's a big, huge scandal, probably the most colossal scandal in the history of this country. It's unfolding as we speak. We don't have the full story yet, but what we do have is deeply troubling. And so all I want to say is this, be active, be loud, and be energetic. Don't let these fuckers get you down. That's what they want. They want you quiet. They want you apathetic. They want you sitting on your hands. They want you tired. They want you scared. They want you doing all of those things. What they don't want you doing is marching. What they don't want you doing is writing about this, speaking out about it, talking to your friends and family, calling your

representatives, writing to your representatives, engaging in acts of civil disobedience, nonviolent

protest, all of those things.

I encourage that.
