Welcome back to the morning mindset. Do you know why we are here together this morning. Do you remember? I say it quite often and it has kind of a little lilts to it the way that I say it but it is

that we are here to get our mind aligned with the truth of God. Now think about

when you take your car in to get an alignment on your car.

What they're doing is they are lining up the two front wheels or perhaps the two back wheels

or perhaps all four wheels.

To be aligned with each other, meaning that they're all pointing

in exactly the same direction.

They're all straight forward so that that car drives forward smoothly and without those wheels even

in the slightest way competing with each other. I find that a very helpful illustration

for what is meant when we say we need to align our

mind with the truth of God. We need to get into alignment with God's way so that we

are tracking directly on the same path that He is because we are thinking

like He is thinking about the world in which we live.

Part of the way that we need to do that is in how we think of ourselves and

our own role in this world, this thing we call life. We need to be aligned with God in the sense of who he says we are in the world and what our role is in that world.

You see and part of that is to be a humble servant of God because he is the master.

He's the one calling the shots and telling us what we are to do in life and we are to be fully submitted to his leadership.

In the book we've been going through, humility by Andrew Murray, Andrew Murray refers to

it as death to self. He says we are to put aside our agenda and the things

that we would pursue in favor of the things that God would pursue. Now doesn't

that sound like alignment? Doesn't that sound like getting yourself

on track with what God desires? And he says, if death to self is to come, we must do it
