You'll know that I dressed up as a giant eggplant. I found a one-sy adult-size XL that actually looks really cool. It's been really comfortable.

Honestly I've been wearing it as pajamas as well. But let's talk today about some

unusual root crops. It's root crop season for me here. I'm really focusing on that in my fall garden.

Just because, number one, I typically don't grow a whole ton of them. And number two, I want to take a break from things like

kale. Not that I don't like kale but you know I just want to you

know ease up on the brassica's a little bit and experiment with some other

interesting things so of course I have the classics the onions the garlic

the carrots I've even got some

turnips in the ground, which if you have any good recipes for turnips, please

let me know Kevin and eppet gardening.com or send me something on

Instagram because that's just one that I'm not too familiar

with how to cook but I do enjoy growing them so if you have any tips please let me

know otherwise let's go ahead and get into some other unusual root crops

that you may want to experiment with.

So first of all, you've got Hickama.

I see this all the time here in San Diego

because it is a Mexican root vegetable and being

that we're so close to the border it is often for sale at Mexican supermarkets or even

Asian markets for a pretty reasonable price but it's a very large root

veggie looks kind of like a potato if it's unpeeled has a very mild taste and it's

somewhat sweet a lot of people will substitute hickama for, let's say, carrots or broccoli or things like that

...
