Summary

Two very different examples to exemplify ~why~ this has been top of mind this week. Moral: We get to choose what happens next, so stop doing things because you feel like you "should" and start doing things that bring you joy. Also! Answering a listener question about what to do when the new person you're seeing flakes — but you really, really liked them.

Hey everybody, Emily Abadi here coming to you live from the A.G. studio.

0:26.3

You are listening to another installment of five minute Friday from hurdle. Oh man, what

0:33.6

a week. I feel like we are in the sprint of the finish in which I need to try to catch

0:38.8

everyone. I literally have seven days to do it and book all of these things and find

0:44.2

these guests and make this content and it can be a lot, but we can do hard things. So that's

0:51.1

the mentality I have every single day when I sit down to my desk. I am recording this just

0:58.8

before I'm going to go to the sauna near my apartment, which I'm really excited about,

1:03.4

and then pack my bags because I am going to be spending the weekend in Cobbos and Lucas,

1:08.6

which I'm really, really excited about. I'm going for a wellness retreat. It is going

1:13.2

to be much warmer than where I am right now, and I can't wait to move and hike and just

1:20.5

be in a nice little paradise. Anyway, what I wanted to talk to you about today is that it is

1:28.9

never too late to choose a different path, think something different, go down to different

1:36.9

routes. You get where I'm going with this. This was kind of top of mind for me for a few

1:42.7

different reasons this week. First of all, not to spoil anything, but Monday's episode of the

1:49.7

show is with Courtney DeWalter. She is arguably the best female ultra runner of all time. She didn't

1:57.0

turn professional until she was 32 after starting a successful career as a teacher. Now, as we

2:05.1

talk about in the episode on Monday, she feels so grateful that she made this decision and that she's

2:10.4

living her life, following her passions. It was just really beautiful because I think so often,

2:16.0

we continue on with a thing because we feel as though it's what we're supposed to do, right?

2:21.2

But what happens if you have this other urge or you hear that voice inside your head saying,

2:29.0

maybe it shouldn't be this way or you start to feel unhappy. You got to listen to that.

2:35.9

You got to do something about that because life is just way too short to linger in the malaise of
