What in Welcome to the Hunt Backcountry Podcast. This is number 486 and today we are talking about headlamps for hunting.

This is not the sexiest topic ever.

It's a gear category that on some hunts

doesn't make a difference,

and on some hunts it can make a critical difference.

A headlamp can be used for everything from simple chores around camp

to navigating steep, difficult terrain in the dark with a heavy pack in situations

that could honestly be very dangerous or difficult with the wrong lighting choice.

And for headlamps, there's competing factors of size and weight and capabilities

and different things to look for.

So in this podcast and the accompanying video we discuss

exactly what we look for and a headlamp talk about some of the headlamps we've

used in the past and some of the headlamps that we are testing this fall.

And there'll be more to come as we continue to test and review headlamps in the future,

but this is a great introduction to headlamps in their use for hunting.
