trekking poles are a pretty basic gear item, but we see some people still not using them in the backcountry and we talk about why they should.

We see some people using them incorrectly and we talk about some of those mistakes and

then we talk about the multifaceted use of trekking poles because they are used for more than just hiking.

They can support a shelter, they can be used as shooting support with a rifle, and more.

and what to look for in a trekking pole.

And to be honest, as you will will hear it's not the most complicated gear item.

You don't necessarily have to overthink it.

You don't necessarily need to spend a ton of money.

But we do discuss the pros and cons of things like carbon versus aluminum, different types of

locks such as twist locks versus lover locks, and other factors to consider when looking at

trekking poles.

and then we dive deeper in the second half

on mistakes made, alternate uses, and a whole lot more.
