This is honestly a little bit of everything with human nature, with people, with customers, and also to be honest with it as contractors. I mean, because I think about it this way, I'm a contractor, and I deal with the public and customers, and similarly, I'm a customer that deals with contractors and companies, and so I'm kind of playing devil's advocate here on today's podcast. I wanted to talk about five different topics that bugged us not out of me that I think we can both learn from from both sides. And as we go through this list,

1:31.2

I'm not here to attack any one side or any one thing, nothing like that. It's more just, let's have a dialogue, let's have a conversation, and let's let's work better together, because at the end of the day, I think we all have the same goals in mind, which is typically get the job done, pay for a good or service. We'll want to have a pleasant experience working conditions and working environment, working relationship. And so long story short, I wrote down five different topics here, communication, expectations, budget, and partnership was number four. And then somewhere in between,

2:01.2

there, I had a fit. So maybe it's four things that bugged us that out of me. But anyway, this is a precursor, a little script that I wrote out that I wanted to do on YouTube as well, and maybe highlight some different examples. But the reason I wanted to talk about this for a couple of quick minutes on today's show, and by the way, if you guys are new here, it's all about lawns, lessons, life. We're here to help you guys grow a more successful lawn landscaping business. Nothing here is theory. This is what we're doing every single day to grow lawn landscaping businesses work. We've done hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. We've done millions of dollars a year over our career. We hope

2:31.2

to do millions more. And so here's what I wanted to do is just as we go into the spring rush, maybe some of you guys can relate right now, time stamp, late February, I'm going into March, you're getting bids for commercial, you're sending out bids, you're getting RFPs, requests for proposals. People want you to, you know, outline scope of work with projects that are going to be coming up in the spring and the summer. So you're taking on bids, you're submitting bids. A lot of us are working furiously and feverishly behind the scenes to

3:01.2

get all this stuff put together. And the spring rush, I mean, is upon us. I mean, some of you guys are already out there doing cleanups and going to be mowing before you're not up here. We're still looking out the window to wonder if snowflakes are going to fly or any significant snowflakes are going to fly. It's a pretty, pretty light winter. And so that being said, we're talking about commercial accounts today. And again, we are business person. We have about 16 to 18 commercial accounts that we manage, including a couple of HOAs, some decent sized HOAs. And then another like mix of about 75 to 80.

3:31.2

85 residential. And then numbers been higher. It's been lower. But it's a perfect little business for us with managing a couple guys that run the route. And then I'm in the field, like 30 to 50% week, the week day to day. So here's the deal.

3:45.8

When talking about getting commercial accounts, though, as this is kind of the topic of this episode, there's just like some things that bug me about the industry. I've been

3:54.5

rantin' about this to Adele sometimes when we're on our phone calls. And he's like, yeah, yeah, welcome, welcome to the business, welcome to the industry.

4:01.0

Like, you know, repeating back to myself. Like, yeah, dude, I deal with the same stuff. And by the way, like as a customer, we deal with the same stuff, right?

4:08.2

So long story short, I wanted to kind of break some of these things down today that maybe you're newer in business. And you want to learn some of these lessons before you have to cut your teeth on them or just get perspective, right?

4:20.4

I mean, it's like walkin' down the street and then out of nowhere, somebody just sucker punches ya. That's not fun. So same thing in business, you don't want to be walkin' down the street and then bam. And you're like, well, I never even knew that was a thing.

4:31.1

Well, that's what the podcast is for to learn hundreds of these little nuances. And so that's what I wanted to just maybe arm you guys with today talking specifically about commercial accounts.

4:40.5

By the way, one other quick thing before we kind of jump into it here from today's announcement. And then we're going to get into the mean potatoes of this thing.

4:46.1

I just want to say a big sincere thank you to all of you guys that have been picking up the new book zero to 100k. I don't think we've made quote unquote any official announcements just yet, but I will tell you on today's podcast episode.

4:59.6

Yes, the book is out. And I was waiting to actually get a couple copies in hand to make sure it actually looked correct.
