Make a hit comedy? They want you to make more comedies.

Play a great bad guy. You might be playing bad guys for the rest of your life.

Jonathan Demi, however, refused to be categorized after a film is successful and influential as the Silence of the Lambs,

there must have been tremendous pressure on him to do another. But he didn't.

Instead, Demi continued to make documentaries, music videos, concert films, and performance pieces

following, as he always had, his personal interests and artistic tastes.

Still, when we lost Demi last week to cancer, John and I knew that the film we had to talk about

was his 1991 thriller, The Silence of the Lambs.

One of only three films in history to sweep the major categories at the Oscars,

Silence of the Lambs is a fascinating, terrifying, emotional, and haunting film,

whose technical mastery only serves to support the tremendous performances from

Jody Foster and of course Anthony Hopkins as one of the most terrifying and

compelling villains in screen history. So that Silence of the Lambs in honor of the the screen history. So, that Silence of the Lambs,
