Hello and welcome to another episode of page 94.

My name is Andrew Hunter Murray and this week it is the last in the series so we've gone all out

with a bumper Triple Bill special episode. We will be talking to Richard Brooks

about Mr Ehud Sheleg, the mysterious man at the top of the Conservative Party who has some

fascinating connections overseas. We'll be talking to Tim Minogue about how

cash-strapped councils are resorting to all kinds of business ventures without much experience

of it and generally coming a cropper, and we'll be talking to Heather Mills and to the magazine's editor

Ian Hizzlop about banging on about why it's so important to keep covering stories sometimes

for 10 or 20 years and about what happens when you do. But first, Mr Erechalleg, the man who is the

treasurer of the Conservative Party. In the last issue of Private Eye, he was the

subject of a special investigation by Richard Brooks, one of the

I's investigative team, and the investigation has turned up some absolutely fascinating stories

which deal with overseas accounts and extremely expensive artworks.

So I thought it was time to get Richard in for a conversation about the mysterious Mr. Shelegg,

and I started off by asking him what the principal duty of a Tory party treasurer is anyway.

To fund the campaigns, the elections, one of which might come sooner rather than later.

And of course, to check that that money is the right sort of money that's a

crucial part of it you know we've had so many scandals over the years involving

nefarious funds coming into well well not just Conservative Party, but other parties.

And they're there to make sure that we get well-funded clean politics. And we've written about Eher Cheleg before, you've written about Eher Cheleg before, can we describe his kind of prehistory in the eye before this

special piece that you've written for this issue.
