Can you tell us a little bit about the workers brought you to the Paul Foot Awards?

Well, it was an investigation into a gang of tax scammers in India. So they were people who were phoning up thousands of

Britons every day and claiming that they were from H. M.R.C. and that the

person they were calling owed money and they managed to flee thousands of

pounds out of a huge range of people ranging from university professors down to

you know just pensioners and all sorts by sort of terrifying them into believing they own money.

So I think lots of people know that these scams happen.

They're, you know, everyone knows to kind of be on their guard against them.

But actually getting to the heart of a scamming

operation sounds very difficult. How did you go about it? Well we had a lot of tips. The

section of the paper called Moneymail had a lot of people emailing in about this had happened to them

and writing in.
