Summary

I have known a few women impacted by Postpartum Depression (also known as PPD). It hits moms in different ways - some mildly, some very severely. It hits moms at different times. Some women experience symptoms almost immediately after giving birth. Some women don’t experience symptoms until their babies are a year old. There is not a pattern or blueprint. It can look like depression. It can feel like anxiety. It can be short lived. It can last for years. Sometimes drugs are necessary and helpful. Sometimes drugs are not necessary. Sometimes drugs make things worse. Every women’s experience is a harrowing journey, often filled with overwhelming emotions.    I am so grateful to Caroline Kwash, the host of the podcast Being Carefull, for coming on the show to talk about her journey with Postpartum Depression. She shares her story from the time she gave birth 18 months ago until today. She tells us about the roller coaster she has been riding and how she has learned to manage the twists and turns over the last year and a half.    Caroline is brutally honest about her experience, which I hugely admire. I know her story will help many other moms. Please share this episode with other communities of moms so the women who need help and inspiration can find it in Caroline’s story.    Caroline kindly shares many tips that help her navigate her daily life and have helped her heal tremendously over time. Her tips are extremely helpful for any moms dealing with PPD. Additionally, her tips are GOLD for any new mom navigating the adjustment into motherhood.    Links Mentioned:   Caroline’s podcast: Beingcarefull.com Caroline’s Etsy Store Carefull Candles (use promo code HELLO to save 25%!) 0:29.6

wanting to share her story with postpartum depression. And I didn't know what to expect when doing

0:34.5

an interview about postpartum depression because it's a pretty personal

0:37.7

thing and I didn't know how deep someone would want to go being interviewed about that. And I have to

0:42.3

give Carolyn so much love for everything that she shared with us. She went deep. She talked about

0:47.7

her experience. She talked about how it all started for her after her daughter was born. What

0:53.3

postpartum depression looked like for her.

0:55.0

It looks different for different people for sure.

0:57.5

For some people, it's more severe than it is for others.

0:59.6

For some people, it involves different aspects of their life.

1:03.7

It can overtake everything in your life.

1:06.4

And sometimes it can just be kind of a low grade underlying thing.

1:09.2

So you can't really say that it

1:11.4

just paints one picture for women and for moms. I love that Caroline really took the time to share

1:18.0

her story and share really openly and really the raw details of how it all happened for her

1:25.2

and what it continues to look like. Her daughter is now 19 months old

1:28.4

and postpartum depression is still a part of her life. She's still recovering from it. Some days are

better than others. In this episode, we're going to talk about what has been most helpful for
