It's not for our whimsy or for our selfish ambition or for our personal fulfillment.

We will ask to be in a given account of what we have done with the gifts, the talents that have been entrusted to us.

Jesus told us that.

And simply returning with the talent intact having protected it, buried it, and presenting it unwrapped to the Lord, resulted in a very harsh response.
