water week on the podcast and so today is going to

be the sciencey sort of nuts and bolts of how plants use water but as the week

progresses we'll be talking about things like soil water retention if it makes sense to use

water retention gels or pounders in your garden and many other different things that have to do

with the topic of watering in the garden.

So, you know, this is something that, you know, to be honest with you, I still struggle with a little

bit and it's something that I certainly struggle with quite a bit, especially in my indoor

plants, but also in the raised beds outside, is just

when to water, how to water, how to know when your plant has too much water, too little

water.

This is probably the number one question that beginner gardeners have, and it's one of the most frequently

emailed questions to me over at Kevin at epic gardening.com so let's go ahead and talk

about the four ways or four of the ways that plants use water.

Okay? Let's go ahead and get into it.

First of all, water is one of the fundamental ingredients for life itself.

So it stands to reason that our plants,

our humble plants, also need quite a bit of it.

Human bodies, they're around 70% water. You and me, about 70%

water, but plants can be as much as 95% water. So it does make sense that the plants

are a little bit more sensitive to if they're getting enough water, right?
