You want to grow homegrown strawberries because you know that grocery store strawberries don't even compare.

But you also want to grow them because strawberries are expensive.

They're often at the top of the dirty dozen list, which means conventional strawberries

often have more pesticide residue than many of the other produce you can buy at the grocery

store. And so buying

organic strawberries is even more expensive. But let's be real, you probably also want to grow

strawberries for the fun of it. When you think about planting strawberries, you probably think about

planting them in the spring. And if you're like me during that time of year, you're so focused on

planting the vegetable garden that strawberries can be somewhat of an afterthought. But did you know

that you can actually plant strawberries in the fall? If you're new here, welcome to the Beginners Garden

blackberries, mainly your fruit bushes, but today we're going to explore the possibility of

planting strawberries in the fall too. So today we're going to talk about why you might consider

planting strawberries in the fall, whether it's too late now to do that in your

region this year, and also if you do decide to plant them this year, how to get them through

the winter. But you may be thinking, even if you do want to plant strawberries this year,

how would you even get strawberry plants right now? That's a challenge. I won't lie,

but I have some solutions for you later in the episode and we'll talk about how to get these
