Summary

This week, I’m wrapping up our very first season of The Art of Preaching by talking about what it really means to stay in this for the long haul. We live in a culture that loves viral moments and big stages, but God’s call isn’t about one-hit wonders—it’s about faithfulness over decades. In this episode, I share my own journey of preaching in living rooms, group homes, and small youth groups long before stepping onto larger platforms, and how mileage, stewardship, and rhythm have shaped me as a communicator. If you feel called to preach, I want to remind you that success isn’t about the size of the crowd, but about showing up again and again, building a life that carries the Word with integrity and longevity.Learn more and connect with Havilah: + Havilah's Site: http://havilahcunnington.com + Truth to Table: http://truthtotable.com + Truth Academy: https://thetruthacademy.com/

So we live in a culture that celebrates like mic drop moments, grand finales, you know,

0:07.4

reels that go viral or standing ovations. And all of those are so cool. And I love it. I love those

0:13.0

moments. But in the kingdom, it's just not about those moments. It doesn't mean they aren't

0:18.9

significant, but it really is about the long

0:21.7

haul. It's about going into the Hall of Fame or going to the Hall of Faith, not just having

0:27.0

a one-hit wonder. And that's what I'm talking about when it comes to this episode specifically,

0:32.1

because we're talking about the art of preaching. We've spent an entire month, episode by episode, talking about what it looks

0:39.7

like to be called and what it looks like to carry the word, to preach, to teach, to grow that

0:45.1

in our lives. But for many of us, we have to understand that success is not this pinnacle

0:51.1

moment of followers or crowd size or all those things. And those are fun and

0:55.7

exciting. And I don't downplay those. But success in the kingdom is about finishing the race,

1:01.6

the Bible says. It's literally about being here for the long haul. Ephesians 4-1 says that we are

1:07.8

called to live worthy of the calling that we've received, which means if you

1:12.8

are called to preach and teach, then to live worthy of that is to actually live that into your

1:19.1

later years, your mature years, and honor that call and steward it, not just have a moment,

1:25.4

but steward that thing until either you return to the

1:29.1

Lord or he returns here. So we live in that culture that celebrates it, but God is not raising up

1:35.1

speakers. I'm sorry, he's not. He's not raising up speakers. He's raising up stewards. And stewards are

1:43.2

those that understand what they carry and they honor it and they

1:46.8

make sure that they are holding it in a way that preserves the thing that they were once given.

1:53.3

And so in this final episode of our first season, it's all about sustaining your fire and growing

1:59.6

and your calling over time. That's how I want to finish this whole series. So for me, it's all about sustaining your fire and growing and your calling over time. That's how I want to finish
