boldly in a chaotic culture. Have you ever heard that if you grew up as a conservative Christian you were indoctrinated into a fear-based view of God and a

shame-based view of yourself or that the fundamentalist Christian gospel damages

children by telling them that they are born into this world

intrinsically bad and repulsive to God learning that their sinfulness is to blame for

the brutalization, torture, and death of God's son. Well this is exactly what Jim Palmer, the

chaplain for the American Humanist Association who also holds the title of

founder of the Center for Non Religious Spirituality says, and he's not alone.

There are many in the deconstructions space who make similar claims.

For example, one deconstructionist put it like this, quote, in abusive relationships relationships one person convinces another person that they are worthless

and no one else could ever love them that's why people stay this is also how the church operates

end quote a pro-de-construction progressive Christian parenting blogger

discussed the phrase Jesus died for you or your sins and she wrote this quote,

while I realize that statement won't psychologically damage every kid if it damages one, it's not worth using, period.
