I remember the first time I got a job to host something.

I said, well, I'm not really a host.

Like, I think it was the drama desk awards

many, many years ago.

And I was like, I don't want to stand up for my peers

and try to do hosting.

I'm not trained that way.

I remember I got a great lesson one time from a mentor.

It said, you are though, just be yourself.

I was like, that's scary.

I'm an actor.

And then I started to realize, no, just be you.

You're going to let people see you.

And then you're going to do a role.

And then you're going to do this TV show.

And you're going to do this movie and have no roles.

So to the younger generation that say, it's not happening

fast enough.

It didn't happen for me overnight.

I worked constantly at it.

Any extra money I had, I had a lesson.
