How many times have Joseph's tears flowed in Genesis?

I think this is the eighth time we are explicitly told this.

Now this is just Whedon speculation here, but I can't

help but wonder if his weeping at this juncture is over their continued fear and distrust of him.

Does our Lord weep such tears over us?

The word of the Lord endures forever is a daily verse-by-verse Bible study with the Church,

past and present.

Pastor Whedon is leading us in a study of the book of Genesis, chapters 37 to 50.

So our last study was the account of Israel's burial. Remember how they took 40 days to

embalm him and 70 days to mourn for him. When that was through, Joseph sent through others a request

for Pharaoh to release him from service

for the time being so that he could fulfill his final promise to his father, to lay his body

to rest in Canaan. Though Joseph sent through messengers, it sounded as though Pharaoh himself

came to Joseph and granted his request.

But when they went up to bury Jacob, recall that it wasn't just Joseph and his brothers who went,

rather a great company of the Egyptians went up with him, including the elders of the land and a number

of chariots and horsemen.

In other words, Jacob went with a royal entourage accompanying him.

The children of the Israelites had remained in Egypt together with their flocks and herds.
