Welcome to the Word of the Lord Endures Forever with Pastor Will Whitten.

We look back wistfully at those seemingly endless days of summer vacation when we were children,

and the wistfulness arises because the closer we approach the ending of our earthly pilgrimage,

our experience of time seems to be going on fast forward.

Pastor Whedon is leading us in a study of Psalms 90 through 106.

Greetings, people, loved by God.

Well, at long last, we wrapped up our read through Genesis last time.

Recall that it ended on the joyous note of forgiveness.

After Jacob's death, the brothers were afraid that Joseph would pay them back for

their sin against him. How little they understood of his heart. They concocted a message

purportedly from Jacob begging Joseph to forgive his brothers and receiving this message,

Joseph weeps. His brothers bowed before him yet again, and Joseph hastened to assure their anxious hearts that they really had nothing to fear.

They had meant evil against him. But God used it for good and for the saving of many lives. So they do not need to fear. He will continue to provide for

them and their little ones. The book closed out with Joseph's reminding his offspring that God would

visit them and bring them up from Egypt one day. And that when that happened and they came home to Canaan,

they were to bring his bones along with them. A promise Moses kept, as you can read in Exodus.

Now, back to the church's prayer book and hymn book, the holy sultan, remember the sultan is divided

into five books, rather like the Torah.

We're about to start in the fourth of those books, running from Psalm 90 to Psalm 106.
