Have you ever put something out into the world, launched a creative endeavor, a website, a book,

sold tickets for an event, or even just launched a new piece of work onto the internet on social media,

and just been super disappointed with the results.

I mean, if you haven't, then I kind of hate you because...

Because how dare you? I mean, we all have had that experience.

In my experience, the results of almost every single creative launch, all those different kinds are talking about,

never really match the high hopes that I have for them.

I always feel like I'm kind of left feeling like a loser that sucks that nobody likes,

and it just feels super vulnerable every time that it blows up in your face.

It's just embarrassing, even if nobody else knew what your expectations were,

you still end up feeling embarrassed even to your own self that you got your hopes up in that way.

If you have ever put any of your work out into the public in any scenario,

you've probably made yourself vulnerable in this way.

You've made yourself vulnerable to be crushed emotionally, and when you get crushed like that,

you get less and less likely to try it again and take that risk.

It is a huge problem because launching new endeavors out into the world is one of the most essential pieces to a thriving creative practice,

and if you refuse to do it, or you refuse to get good at it,

if you really burn yourself in this way, you're going to have a super hard time thriving as a career creative.
