0:22.0

Hey, you're listening to the Creative Pep Talk podcast. I'm your host, Andy J.

0:28.0

Hey, so every episode of this show starts with the idea that on the creative journey,

0:36.0

it's easy to get lost. And I genuinely, very deeply from personal experience, believe that this is very true.

0:48.0

So true that it hurts almost every time I hear it.

0:52.0

We have often spoke about how in our everyday, when we do get some space to actually make something that we can't often make any progress.

1:03.0

Because when you're truly lost, you don't know if every step is getting you closer to where you want to be or further away.

1:12.0

You know, if you don't know like a where out, should I, I'll go this way and start walking every step starts hurting because you're like, wait, is it, am I getting further from being found?

1:21.0

I don't know because you're lost. So you take us a few steps in one direction, you're like, nah, nah, nah, man.

1:28.0

This creative work has been done before. It's old news. Why, no, this can't be what I should be spending my time doing.

1:36.0

So you stop, turn around, go the other way, walk that way for a little bit.

1:41.0

And you're like, why am I even doing this? This is just totally selfish.

1:44.0

I should be helping, spending time with my kids. I should be helping somebody else who's doing something actually worthwhile.

1:51.0

This is just selfishness. So you stop and turn around and go back the other way.

1:55.0

And you do this kind of back and forth dance with yourself only to end up completely depleted, exhausted, no further than when you started out.

2:07.0

How do, how does one scale such an insurmountable blockage? How can you finally get over that thing that's in your way from actually making progress to where you want to go?

2:20.0

Today on the show, I want to explore how to get over that enormous obstacle, how to get over yourself. Let's do it.
