I don't think anyone likes me and I think that this talk is going to go terribly wrong.

Now see, none of those statements are actually true, but they are things that could arise

in the mind of someone who is about to do what I'm doing right now.

If you've ever given a talk in public before, at some point before you get into doing it,

you often have some type of resistance, some type of negative thought that arises,

or a whole series of negative thoughts that arise, telling you that you aren't good enough,

that you're, what are you doing here, some type of imposter syndrome type of situation,

something that's telling you in trying to force you to disengage and to find a reason to cancel

or not give this talk at all.

You know, all these type of thoughts are actually deeply ingrained in every single one of us.

They are a part of our evolutionary system.

They evolved to try, our minds evolve to try and keep us safe,

to try and make sure that we are in vulnerable situations.

And so what it does is that whenever it senses that we are going to be in a vulnerable situation, it generates

a lot of negative thoughts and tries to keep us stuck, tries to keep us from moving forward,

putting ourselves in situations that we don't understand or that we don't have all the answers

for. And by doing that, it will make sure that we aren't vulnerable and we can

stay in an area of safety. Now, that thinking was very valuable back whenever we were living in

the jungle, but living in the modern world and having things like constant emails, constant messages,

and a huge feedback loop because we're always bombarded by digital information all the time,

and we're also always expressing things online all the time.
