| 0:52.7 | fire you up and now we want to equip you you with different tools and tactics to make 2022 the best year yet. So I'm going to fire this up right away with number one. And this is a simple one, but a great one. And that is to be realistic. And what I mean by this is if I just go making some insane goals, I've talked about this before, |
| 1:14.5 | you know, something that I know is not going to happen. If I say, hey, I want to be 400 pounds of lean and muscular, I'm setting myself up for failure. It's funny, it's cutesy. I'd love it. It's just not going to happen. Or if I say I want to be a billionaire, you know, not that I'm doubting myself or my ability to do things. It's just those are ridiculous goals. Like there's |
| 1:28.2 | better goals I could set before it. So maybe yes, you do ability to do things. It's just those are ridiculous goals. |
| 2:18.2 | Like there's better goals I could set before it. So maybe yes, you do want to lose 100 pounds and maybe you do want to lose 100 pounds in a year. But maybe you start by saying, I'm going to go 40. You know, that's a number I can tackle. I crunch the math. That's a rate of loss I'm comfortable with each week. It accounts for me to have some diet breaks and that's the intelligent thing. So, you know, making realistic goals because if you don't believe in your goals at all, you're not going to honor them to yourself and you're not going to stick with them. So number one, we just want to kind of make sure we're phrasing this correctly is to be realistic. Absolutely. Like there's something about just having a goal that's like super challenging. but like when it's just so far to reach, it's very demotivating and kind of adding on to Josh. Maybe also, you know, setting the yearly goal, break it into quarterly and then start to reverse engineer. Okay. So in order to reach the quarterly goal, now I have to reach this monthly, then monthly I need to do this weekly and then weekly I need to do this daily. That will help you out a ton. |
| 2:52.6 | Don't overwhelm yourself there, but just that allows you to understand what you actually striving for and how to accomplish it there because the strategy is going to be super important. And that brings me into, of course, goal setting as well, right? A lot of us are goal setting, but do it with things that you're going to check on daily. So I know we talked about this in the recent podcast, but one of my biggest mistakes over the last year was having way too many goals that were kind of smaller that I didn't really write down that I didn't really think about. And then I checked my list at the end of the year. I'm like, oh, I almost forgot. Well, I did forget about a lot of these things. So I like how Josh had five to 10 big things. He accomplished almost all of them and that's my thing here is it's so easy to just think about every single thing and write down like 30 different things you want to accomplish take five start with five and have a deep why right you know just make sure that you actually care about them make sure you're passionate about them make sure the things that you want to do and start to strategize on how to get that and make sure you're checking in with yourself. Even if you don't write it down daily, |
| 3:08.3 | at least look at it daily, |
| 3:09.4 | whether it's a vision board, |
| 3:10.3 | whether it's on your phone background, |
| 3:12.1 | whether it's on your laptop, |
| 3:13.6 | and that will help you out a ton for this coming year. |
| 3:16.0 | Absolutely, this is a big one. |
| 3:17.9 | So definitely take this one in consideration. |
