We have an incredible episode today with a really deep list of questions. So be prepared to learn and be prepared to be fired up. Let's kickstart this bad boy |
| 1:28.5 | with Christmas KG's quote. Yes, sir. I'm fired up here, ready to go, got my Timmy's coffee in |
| 1:34.4 | hand. And my quote for this week is challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them |
| 1:40.1 | is what makes life meaningful from Joshua J. Marine. So yeah, I mean, this one like kind of hit me. It just, it was in my journal the other day when I was just doing some, some journaling. Of course, that's what you do in a journal. Um, and, you know, it just kind of like relates to the book that I'm reading. It's, um, it's called mindset by, uh, Carol Dweck. And, you know, I just actually I was reading it this morning. I'm only 20 pages in, but she was saying how a lot of people, like the reason that we don't like challenges and like don't like overcoming them is because we're scared of failure. And as we're growing up, like, she talks a lot about how I was like as children, let's say four years old, five years old, like we're just completely relentless. Like we're learning how to walk obviously not at four |
| 2:17.6 | but like you know a little younger you know riding bikes we don't care we'll fall off 100 times and then as we grow up we become like i guess you could say like scared of like what failure looks like and embarrassing ourselves in front of other people and stuff like that and i've just like challenged myself even like as i'm relating things to that what i'm doing in life is like I feel like sometimes I have that like that small fear of like, what if I fail this and like, why am I going to attempt this? Because I'm going to fail it. Right. So, you know, it's just a good reminder. I feel like I'm pretty good at this, but it's like that constant thing. As we're going into 2022, like thinking about like, why are we scared of trying something and like, you know, what is it like that like kind of self-limiting belief like behind failing that we have built up. And I think a lot of us as we are just, anyways, like you guys get what I'm saying here. Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful. And I really, this one hit me home and it's very applicable and hopefully this helps someone today. Absolutely. you know, and to piggyback on what Kyle said there, I've been listening to that new biography of Will Smith |
| 3:12.7 | called Will and, you know, it's so funny he's spoken a lot like kind of where I am in that read. |
| 3:18.3 | He's spoken a lot about, you know, how there is this manager, some, some Hollywood exec he works with |
| 3:24.0 | named Quincy jones and |
| 3:25.2 | apparently run around saying you know don't have a paralysis by analysis don't have paralysis by |
| 3:29.9 | analysis and it's that same thing right too like we become so often paralyzed overthinking something |
| 3:35.5 | and deciding not to do it um but we've been saying a lot myself and kyle lately that success |
| 3:40.1 | loves speed right you know the person that has an analysis and like, ooh, I'm going to start my new, I'm going to start my fitness goals. I'm going to crush it. But it was just Christmas and New years is coming up. Maybe I should start after New Year's. And like, you know, when are you doing that? You're just limiting yourself, right? You're literally like paralyzing yourself to the future and as |
| 3:58.3 | we know the future never comes near is going to come something's going to come up and you're going to have |
| 4:01.9 | some another next fire right like you got to just take action sometimes even if it means looking a little |
| 4:07.0 | silly or even if you're like don't know where to start just about taking those first steps right |
