Hello there and welcome to The Bowery Boys. My name is Greg Young.

And I'm Tom Myers.

And we will be talking about the British Invasion today and know my friends that does not

mean when the Beatles went to the Plaza Hotel and to know none of that.

But that's what I did on my research on Greg.

Oh my god, we're going to be completely like reclamps.

Anyway, but no, this is when the British invaded New York City in 1776.

During the American Revolution, the start of America's Independence,

back when George Washington, the continental army weren't looking

as legendary and iconic and the thing that we would read in history books.

So it would be quite a different group of people defending against British.

And this is also the story of a young colony in a young city of Manhattan, New York,

what it was like in the town at the time of the Invasion.

And what it would have been like to watch as the continental force got pushed back, back, back,

further back and further back and back.
