Okay, I used to think that I needed to be motivated in order to do the things that I wanted to do.

Now as an adult with ADHD, that motivation only showed up once in a while. I didn't know when it would come. I didn't know how long it would stay. I would wait patiently for its arrival. Take advantage of it while it was around, and then when

it was gone, I would just kind of sit around and wonder when it would return.

wave of motivation come over you and you're like, okay, let's get it done. And you are just the most, what's the word, productive person on the planet

and you can get more done in two hours than like a neurotypical human could get done in two weeks. you're like oh my gosh I'm amazing and then that feeling of motivation leaves and you're like oh okay I guess it's gone and then you're not motivated again for another day or week or a month or whatever, right?

So frustrating. So scientists initially believe that people with ADHD have lower dopamine levels in their brains.
