| 0:12.0 | I'm not even sure we can imagine how many wars, crimes, |
| 0:16.4 | act of violence have occurred because of hate. Hate is such a powerful emotion. |
| 0:21.6 | And yet one that in some ways can permeate people's lives. |
| 0:27.0 | And do you know the saddest thing about hate? |
| 0:30.0 | It actually destroys the person who carries it. |
| 0:34.0 | And revenge that people seek so badly when they feel hate, |
| 0:38.0 | never healed a wound a wound. |
| 0:41.0 | Like you, I've been exposed to hate, as I'm sure you have been exposed to hate as I'm sure you have but two times really stand |
| 0:46.6 | out to me. When I was going to graduate school I worked for a year at Trenton |
| 0:51.1 | psychiatric hospital. It was the first time I'd ever worked at a |
| 0:54.7 | hospital setting, so I was very new to everything. Well, one day, one of the patients |
| 1:00.3 | was severely acting out and they were concerned she would hurt herself. |
| 1:04.7 | So being a guy and fairly strong at that age, they asked me to help restrain her. |
| 1:09.3 | So I held her down on her shoulders while they were putting restraints on her. |
| 1:13.6 | And during that time while I was holding her down, |
| 1:16.0 | she looked me right in the face and started spewing |
| 1:19.5 | the most hateful things I had ever heard in my entire life. |
| 1:23.8 | I had never felt such hate from another person, and I'm sure if she had the chance she would |
| 1:28.9 | have killed me on the spot. |
| 1:31.0 | Thank goodness the nurses were there, because as she was spewing that hate at me, they calmly told her, |
