An interesting logical fallacy that I stumbled upon whenever I was thinking about,

our incessant need and conquest of perfection.

And I'll get to that logical fallacy in a moment.

But first I want to talk a little bit about the idea and the pressure

and the anxiety

that is created by this illusion that we're chasing after,

this perfection, this idea that like,

we're not allowed to mess up,

that we have to present ourselves perfectly all the time, that we have to always be optimizing,

that we have to always be, you know, growing and getting better, which is good, but you

don't always have to be in that. Like, there's no consequences if you're not growing in some

way. What can happen is that we then feel guilty about not moving the needle forward

or, you know, somewhat, and that then influences and, you know, has negative consequences

internally. We live in a world, particularly influenced by social media and, you know, just culture in general, certainly

American culture I can speak to, that it's all broadcasted as the more wealth you have,

the more status you have, the more leverage you have, the more leverage you have, the more legacy

you have, all of those things equal, successful human, right? And that stuff all trickles down.

Like it all trickles down into everything in our culture, everything in the way that we see ourselves and connect with each

other, it's all influenced, you know, and it makes us feel like we aren't enough and we're

never doing enough. And, you know, if you look at, um, marketing in general, you can really see it quite clearly.

It's like, you know, of course, one of the things that's always killed me is it's like

the personal appearance stuff that is marketed towards, you know, everyone is so brutal. It's so brutal. It's like, you know, everyone, it's so brutal.
