Mary is not in the Christmas story because she was smarter, or stronger, or kept the rules better than some other girl. She is in the Christmas story because the Spirit of God was able to do something remarkable through her life. God intruded on the hopes and dreams Mary had for herself and completely changed the life journey she would take as the mother of God’s Son. Pastor Allen Jackson shows how Mary was yielded to the purposes of God across the years—from the angel’s visit, to the manger, to the foot of the cross, and beyond—then reminds us of the outcomes when our own lives are lived in the Spirit.
