0:05.5	life, and they'll write things that they think will make them happy.
0:11.1	In psychology, this is called impact bias.
0:15.3	Impact bias is basically that we as human beings overestimate or underestimate how something's
0:23.3	going to affect us emotionally.
0:26.0	Meaning, we think, oh, if only I could get my dream job.
0:30.5	If only I could get my dream job, then I'm going to be happy.
0:33.7	Or if only I could meet the man of my dreams, then I'm going to be happy.
0:38.1	Or if only I could be a mom, then I'm going to be happy.
0:41.6	We have these ideas in our head, and we think that getting this one thing is going to have
0:46.5	this incredible impact on our lives.
0:49.7	And it does.
0:51.1	But often, we've overestimated how much joy that's going to bring us, or possibly underestimated
0:57.6	how much something's going to be difficult.
