Summary

It seems like this week's big salvo of Valve hardware announcements is all anyone's talking about right now, particularly the Steam Machine, and who better to fill in a bunch of hands-on details with that li'l box, plus the new Steam Frame VR headset and refreshed Steam Controller, than our old friend Norm Chan of Tested.com, who went up to Valve to see it all. Okay, so spoiler alert.

We're recording the cold open after we had the recorded the main conversation here. Wait, you're letting them know? But like, pulling the curtain back? I'm just going to say after talking to Norm today, by the way, Norm's here. Not here. Not here. Not here. Not now, but he'll be here in a minute. Like five minutes tops. But also he was here in the past. So after talking to him, I was like, maybe I should dig out my index and plug it in. Maybe you should dig out. I heard there's a, there's a pretty spectacular new VR game out there to play. That's what people have said to me. And I'm, I'm interested and intrigued. Talking about luminous arise. I think I quite literally said on the Nextlander podcast this week that VR now is a thing that I plug in every time Enhance puts out a new game, basically.

0:44.9

Yeah, like between Tetris Effect and this, like their banger VR games for sitting in a chair.

0:50.3

It is, dude, like the first time I played through the Luminosa Rise Journey Mode, which is the kind of campaign full synesthesia, full synesthetic experience. Mm-hmm. Like, borderline religious at times, like some of the best use. It's a freaking puzzle game, but it's some of the best use of VR I have ever seen. I mean, you haven't played Alex also. No, I played a little bit Alex. Okay. I was very impressed with what I've seen of Alex, but like the fact that they can take a VR, like, or sorry, a, like a block-dropping puzzle game, which both Tetris and Lumin S are and turned them into this overwhelming at times audio visual experience really feels like a testament to like what you can do with VR with some good old fashioned artistry. Yeah.

1:27.5

So now the question is, did you set up controllers all around you so that you were feeling the vibrations through the chair?

1:34.1

Sorry.

1:34.9

I don't think the trans vibrator is PS5 compatible, unfortunately.

1:38.8

Sir, in Tetris Effect, you can set up controllers and plug them in and trans vibrator them.

2:02.0

God, that's right. They did. They did. Yeah. Port trans vibration technology. Yeah. We have, we, now it's even, it's higher resolution with all that HD rumble and your, your switch pro controllers and, uh, look, you, you can get crazy with that business if you want. Is that what VR has been missing all this time?

2:05.2

Is that they just need to develop high definition teledildonics?

2:11.1

I assure you that the one thing that VR has not been missing is high definition teledildonics. Fair.

2:12.3

I've heard some things, actually.

2:14.6

Yeah, there's a, look, it's a, let's, I would say it's a thriving cottage industry

2:19.9

of advanced tele-dilodonics technology for your virtual reality pleasure, literally.

2:28.8

We should start the show.

2:30.2

We should start the show. Welcome to Brad and Will made a tech pod.

3:01.1

I'm Will.

3:03.0

So, okay, we pulled back the curtain.

3:05.1

We talked about the VR in the cold open. There's really not a

3:09.6

whole lot else to say here other than a young Norman Chan of tested.com and YouTube.com

3:17.5

slash tested, I think now. Maybe it's testedcom. I can't remember what the short URL is. Anyway,

3:23.2

you're talking. I'll find out.
