As promised yesterday, got some news on Volkswagen reporting their latest update on electric vehicles, their earnings and profits

and things like that. Volkswagen reported a 60% reduction in profits for the quarter,

largely driven by a decrease in sales in China. Actually, the downturn coincides with

their announcement to close three factories in Germany for the first time, which may lead

to tensions with unions,

representing about 120,000 of the 300,000 employees in Germany.

The car sector is facing headwinds, I think they say, with various manufacturers like BMW and Mercedes-Benz,

noting last week weaker demand because of China, and particularly the more premium brands as well with less

of a certain economic outlook in China causing that and rising interest rates there as well.

For example, Aston Martin acknowledged today they're the adverse effects of the weak macroeconomic

environment in China. So it's not just to do with electric vehicles. Ashton Martin,

don't make EVs. Alongside the falling demand, the car makers are facing substantial investments
